Shannon Becker received her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2001 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After studying Wingless protein movement at Duke University, she joined the Breen lab in 2004 as a Research Assistant. Shannon entered the Comparative Biomedical Sciences graduate program at the College of Veterinary Medicine in Spring 2008. She is very interested in chromosome reorganization in speciation and specifically would like to look at genomic conservation across species.
In her free time, Shannon enjoys working with stained glass, cooking and baking, and playing with her three lovely cats with her husband Dan.
