Susan Bowman graduated in May 2010 from the University of Virginia, where she earned a B.S. in biology. She is currently working toward a dual DVM/PhD degree in Comparative Biomedical Sciences.
In the lab, she investigates the molecular profile of canine transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) and hopes to link her findings to human bladder cancer. Her shetland sheepdog, Gibita, is particularly susceptible to TCC due to her breed's disposition and was the initial impetus for her research. After graduation, Susan hopes to have a career in academia as a veterinary oncologist.
In her spare time, Susan enjoys playing with her dog, playing board games, hiking, eating good food, visiting vineyards and breweries, and relaxing.
