Kristin received a BS in Biology from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) in 2003, and recently obtained her MS in Genetics and Genomics from Duke University. During her tenure at Duke, she investigated mechanisms governing the monoallelic expression of imprinted genes in mice and opossums, as well as those which dictate the localization of essential centromere proteins in humans. Kristin joined the Breen lab in September 2009, and plans to use cytological techniques to identify common chromosomal anomalies in dog and human cancers. Her main interest lies in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of genetic diseases, and hopes to pursue a career in genetic counseling in the future.
Outside of the lab, Kristin enjoys running, biking, baking, and playing with her goofy dog Bernard.
